An Australian in New York. Infinitely curious - a seeker of joy, family and friendship, ethics, sustainability and beauty.

An Evolving Story

As an architectural designer with 20+ years’ experience, I have worked across the fields of education, residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, and urban design. After working with several award-winning offices in Perth, Australia I relocated to New York in 2011.

With the team at HMA² ArchitectsI worked on projects in Manhattan, Connecticut, Long Island, and as far away as Kyrgyzstan. From a diminutive inner-city library renovation, to a bespoke family home on the water, to a new college campus in a former Soviet republic – we developed creative and sensitive responses, often surpassing the expectations or the brief.

In Perth, and as the principal designer at Taylor Robinson Architects – now TRCB I maintained the practice’s design intent and integrity from concept through completion on projects. Several projects for which I was the design lead were awarded including Scotch College’s Dickinson Centre and the Science, Design & Technology Centre, Curtin University’s Engineering Pavilion and the iZone, Sentinel Bar & Grill, and the Brisbane Hotel. The culture of design excellence, collaborative and critical investigation, innovation, sustainability and responsibility, and importantly, a sense of playfulness was paramount.

Entering the world of freelance design and collaborative partnerships, I continue with a strong design and graphic bias, and am committed to the thoughtful development of a design brief into beautiful, joyful and highly functional spaces. Attention to detail and a problem-solving attitude bring accuracy and rigour to every task. The work seeks to inspire delight in clients, users, and bystanders alike. To this end, I work with clarity of concept, space, light, and materiality to create beautiful, engaging, enduring and memorable places.

The arts are important elements in the equilibrium of my life. Parallel to and often informing my design work is the influence of music and dance. Of Indonesian descent, the dances of its many and varied nations have been present from an early age and today, I am a dancer with Gamelan Dharma Swara currently serve as Vice President and dance coordinator.
